I hope everybody had a good easter weekend! I spent mine at the beach with family...it was quite the gluttenous weekend. the point of easter is to celebrate jesus's ressuraction...and celebrate we definitely did. i was actually kind of ready to get back to reality today.

i've been struggling with this whole technology/computer networking thing. i hate how impersonal it can be. like...if you want to know what's going on in my life, why can't we sit down and have a cup of coffee and chat? why do you have to find out about my weekend, family, job etc via a computer screen?
i feel the same way when it comes to my work. i enjoy printmaking because it is completely handmade and hand printed. made with love from me to you. so i have a hard time broadcasting my work through social networking sites, because my work is personal and heartfelt and blabbing on a website cheapens it for me. i want you to be able to pick it up, feel textures and colors and react in a tangible way.
however...i know i'm fighting a losing battle. facebook, twitter, blogs and online portfolios are where it's at. so i'm learning to embrace it! (starting with updating this blog regularly!)
read this interesting article about promoting your work/personal life balance via twitter. baby steps :)

happy monday! i hope you had a good weekend :) mine was a good combination of bootcamp, crawfish, and some wild wedding festivities that led to alot of laying around on sunday. the wedding was for one of ryan's best friends stephen baily, and his beautiful bride whitney wood. she is a painter, and their wedding cake was designed like one of her original paintings. it was one of the coolest things i've ever seen!
i get to see my family on thursday in naples, florida and work on my tan, so just gotta make it through a few days! 80 and sunny. mmhmm
finally got around to printing a batch of my 'broken hearts and bicycle parts' series. wanting to get them up on etsy soon, but i need a sunny day to take pictures. what's up with march in atlanta and it always raining? rarr.

so...i spent tuesday night in the emergency room. ryan had a really bad stomach virus and was smart enough to let me know when he needed to be taken somewhere (phew). his first sick day at his company in 3 years. i was terrified that something was horribly wrong with him, cause he pretends like he's not sick even when he really is. its horrible to watch someone you love suffer like that. but...all is good and he's recovering..hopefully in time to be a groomsman in his friend's wedding saturday!
i took off yesterday to get some zzz's, and was hoping to get up at some point and work on some prints/new pictures for my etsy site, but i was e x h a u s t e d. i did get some prints done after bootcamp this morning though! should have them posted by next week.
as promised here's some photos from the art show i was in a few weeks ago.

it was alot of fun! see all the art submitted here.

this guy blows my mind....i could stare for hours.
check out the linomations on his website...as well as the rest of his amazing work
haven't posted lately because, well, I keep this blog for myself and I really have no clue if anyone even reads it. So what's been going on? not printmaking, thats what :)
actually, that's a lie. i was in an art show at young blood gallery a few weeks ago benefitting SOPO bicycle shop. out of 70 works of art, only 7 sold...including mine! photos to come...i promise.
i will also be selling prints of my show piece on etsy shortly...keep checking for updates!
